He sighs, knowing the world is anticipating him. his every move scrutinized until his will becomes a turtle shell in a hot air balloon. staying airborne and going nowhere.
A life lived in urgency is rife with mistakes but not regrets. a life lived in indecision and sloth causes algae to grow on our fur and foster parasites. I live with parasites. several different kinds. my mind is all around the earth and atmosphere and it kills me to have to restrain it to focus on the annihilation of these parasites. they take my energy and my lighters and my money. I am at heart a peaceful man who has laid his burdens of war down along the trails where i buried my family and friends, buried my dog Pal, and my hamster and my tailless cat named Claire. How I miss. How i long. How i see now, but never really see. It is you. and it is me.

a birthday
Well. My thoughts and prayers are with a former professor and friend of mine Hassan Diab as he goes through his struggle of being accused of a synagogue bombing in Paris. I remember how Hassan carried my then infant son in his coat during a peace march in protest of the Iraq invasion. It was winter in Brandon Manitoba and my son was too young to walk, but there he was in solidarity with all of those standing up for justice. I will never forget that day. Hassan, stay strong!
Anyhoos, its my birthday and I decided to start a new blog. I am currently living in Riyadh, working at a school. My son is now 7, he is in winnipeg. My plan is to teach here for a while longer, then I will finish my B.Ed. degree. Then I will take my son to Scotland to live, where we can be in the land of our ancestors and hopefully experience a life more productive than one in N. America might offer. Plans however rarely have a way of unfolding according to plan. For now, I will accept life as it comes, as I always have. Living in Riyadh I have experienced renewed vigor for life. I have been fortunate to have experienced a life-mode that is vastly different than the one in which i grew up. It makes my anthropological blood boil, and I at times even approach optimism about the future of humanity.
To Aaqil: My son. My heart. My life. On this my day of birth, I think of you. Papa is working hard for us to have a great life together in our ancestral homeland of Scotland. I am far away now, but know that I love you more than anything. Soon we shall be together in harmony, and all of our past struggles will seem as what they really were; lessons. Life is full of lessons son, if we keep our eyes and ears open. Some come harder than others, but all serve one purpose; to make us wiser.
Know that i love you son, and stay strong. Je t'aime mon fils precieux
UNTIL NEXT TIME,
BLESSED LOVE.
